Two Customers Walked Into a NC Diner and Ordered Nothing But Water — The Napkin They Left Behind Changed a Waitress’s Whole Week

Alaina Custer was 20 years old, working as a server at a family restaurant in North Carolina to help pay for college, when two customers sat down and ordered exactly one thing each: a glass of water.

Nothing else. No appetizer, no meal. Just water.

When Custer came back to check on the table, the two men were already gone. All that was left was a napkin.

“When I went back over there, they were gone and there was a note on the table on a napkin that said, ‘Waters were great,'” Custer later said.

Underneath the napkin was a stack of $100 bills — $10,000 in cash.

“I was like, ‘Oh my gosh,'” Custer said. “I thought it wasn’t real, like someone was playing a joke on me.”

It wasn’t a joke. The tip had come from YouTube creator Jimmy Donaldson, known to millions as MrBeast, known for videos built around extreme, unexpected generosity.

Custer kept $800 for herself. The remaining $9,200, she split among her coworkers.

“These are my favorite types of videos to make,” Donaldson said. “I really enjoy helping people.”
