14 Nurses Who All Worked At The Same Hospital All Got Pregnant At The Same Time

Staff at one US hospital were left in ‘shock’ after 14 of their nurses all got pregnant at the same time.

Given the short window of time that a woman actually has to get pregnant in a month, this really is the biggest coincidence.

In principal, women have a ‘fertile window’ of around six days per month to get pregnant, which is including the five days leading up to ovulation, and that day itself.

This is because sperm can live for days, and the egg for 12-24 hours.

So for an entire hospital ward of nurses to become pregnant at the same time… is a little spooky.

But more than that, a logistical nightmare for the hospital itself.

What happened at the hospital?

The Wisconsin birthing center was left completely gobsmacked after learning that 14 of their nurses were all pregnant at the same time.

The hospital, HSHS St. Vincent Hospital’s Women and Infants Center in Green Bay, announced the shocking news earlier last year, as Mother’s Day approached in May.

The mom’s-to-be are all registered nurses, as well as health ‘educators’ and ‘advocates,’ but how did the bizarre coincidence come to be?

According to the hospital, the pregnant co-workers have all been receiving their prenatal care from their fellow pregnant friends and colleagues.

Amy Bardon, director of the center, revealed that all the women will be birthing their babies at the hospital.

Given the unlikeness of the situation, it feels only right.

But users in the comments of the shocking post pointed out a logistical nightmare that may be about to occur for the hospital…

‘They better start staffing now’

One person said: “Happy for them. That unit is about to face a crisis soon when they start going on maternity leave.

“They better start staffing now.”

Another added: “This is a HR nightmare; all these women are going on maternity leave at the same time?”

As a third wrote: “The maternity leave is going to be painful for that hospital!”

“Not to hate but doesn’t this mean this hospital is gonna be down 14 nurses in nine months,” somebody else commented.

But it seems the hospital hadn’t thought that far in advance, when they announced the ‘incredible’ news.

Hospital react to the news

Announcing the shock revelation, Bardon said (per Spectrum News 1): “This is an incredible full-circle moment for many of our nurses, some of which are about to become first-time moms themselves.”

She added: “Each of these women were already baby experts in their own rights.”

But Bardon noted that some are about to ‘further deepen’ their knowledge.

She added: “I am so excited for each of our nurses and the journey they are embarking on, and I hope they have a special Nurses Week and Mother’s Day.

“When our expecting nurses are ready to welcome their little ones into the world, they’ll be cared for by their friends and colleagues here at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital, and they find comfort in that.”

What are the chances of the situation occurring?

If you’re wondering what the chances of the bizarre situation occurring actually are, it’s 1 in 100 trillion.

However, when you break things down, it doesn’t sound all that crazy.

Given that the nurses were generally all in similar age ranges, with similar lifestyle stability, and then factor in social influence.

Clearly, it’s not impossible.

How did it happen?

It wasn’t exactly revealed how the coincidence happened, but it will definitely be a time the hospital won’t forget in a hurry.

The director concluded the statement: “Even before labor, these women have already built some really unique bonds with their colleagues, and I love that each of them has the chance to go through this special moment with each other.”
