A Heartbreaking Moment for George Clooney: Losing a Sister, Losing a Piece of Home.

George Clooney’s family is in mourning as the actor grieves the death of his sister. The eldest child in the Clooney family, 65-year-old Adelia Zeidler, affectionately called Ada by her family, passed away after a battle with cancer. She died last Friday at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, surrounded by her loved ones. It is worth noting that George himself has recently faced concerns about a serious illness.

The Hollywood actor made a heartfelt statement following his sister’s passing, openly expressing his grief. The Ocean’s Eleven star did not hide his pain.

“My sister Ada was my hero. She faced cancer with courage and humor. I’ve never met anyone so brave. Amal and I will miss her tremendously,” Clooney shared.

Adelia was born on May 2, 1960, in Los Angeles to Nina and Nick Clooney and was named after her great-grandmother. Unlike her famous brother, she led a quiet life devoted to art and education. Ada worked as an elementary school art teacher at Augusta Independent School. During her school years, she earned the prestigious title of National Merit Scholar due to her outstanding academic achievements. In 1987, she married retired Army Captain Norman Zeidler.

Ada was also an active member of Augusta’s art guild and even served as the marshal of the city’s annual White Christmas parade.

Despite George’s public life, he and Ada shared a very close bond. As far back as 2015, he told CBS This Morning:

“I am very close to my sister.”

Today, the Clooney family is mourning the loss of a beloved daughter, sister, and friend. George Clooney’s heartfelt words remind us that even in the face of fame and success, the love for family remains the most powerful and enduring force. Ada’s life—marked by courage, creativity, and compassion—will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
